Bradford City, City Gent Badges
Bradford City, City Gent Badges
The Bradford City Gent character was introduced in the mid 1960s by the then Chairman of Bradford City A.F.C. Stafford Heginbotham. It was allegedly a caricature of himself portraying a portly, individual in a City kit sporting a bowler hat, umbrella and briefcase.
The excellent fanzine The City Gent was named after this character and both have undoubtably stood the test of time. Mike Harrison the current editor of the City Gent magazine was extremely helpful in aiding the initial launch of Bradford City Badges and has been greatly supportive ever since.
Another City badge collector and stalwart supporter, was Colin Parker, who is sadly no longer with us. Colin was instrumental in commissioning the City Gent holding a pint of beer badge. There were only 15 sets of 8 badges produced. However, in addition, the badge factory allowed me to do an additional 40 variations in both imitation hard enamel and Cloisonne to showcase their flexibility.
Badges depicting the City Gent were first produced in the 1960s and badges are still being produced today with this lovable character.
